About this use case

Use Jev as an agent action safety gate: incoming state, Jev decision, routed outcome

Who / when

Audience

  • agent harness builders who need an auditable safety layer per action
  • teams fighting prompt injection without stuffing all policy into the main prompt
  • builders who want cheap allow / block / review signals before tool execution

Triggers

  • every agent action should pass an independent safety check before execution
  • the main model prompt alone is not enough against injection or misalignment
  • a proposed tool call looks benign but the state may be poisoned
  • you want auto-allow only when risk is low and confidence is high

Gate policy

≥ 0.90

Auto-allow only when verdict is allow and injection_risk is none or low.

0.65–0.90

Hold for review or a stronger policy check; treat as review even if the top choice is allow.

< 0.65

Block execution; escalate when verdict is block or injection_risk is medium/high.

Failure modes

Pre-launch checks before you trust auto-routing:

  • Binding safety only inside the main agent prompt with no independent gate;
  • Letting the same poisoned context write both the action and the safety judgment;
  • Auto-allowing medium/high injection risk because the agent sounds confident;
  • Skipping the gate for "trusted" tools that still take untrusted arguments;
Keep exact work in code: which actions are gated, allow/block/review thresholds, what gets logged, and how review escalates should be deterministic. Use Jev for the semantic safety call; code enforces the gate bands.

FAQ

Why put a separate Jev gate before every agent action?

A single system prompt is easy to override with injection or gradual misalignment. An independent cheap Choice / Score / Noul call runs on the proposed action itself, stays typed and auditable, and fails closed in code when risk is high—without another full chatty model turn.

How should allow / block / review cascade?

Auto-allow only on allow with high confidence and none/low injection risk. Route review (or mid-confidence) to a human or stronger policy check. Block on clear injection, policy violations, or low confidence—and never let the proposing model skip the gate.

Can I bring my own API key?

Yes. Try the free demo above without signing in. To run it live on your own text, sign in with Google and connect a Flatkey or OpenRouter key (a quick test call runs when you save it). Manage or delete it anytime under Dashboard → BYOK. Keys are stored encrypted on the server, used only for runs you trigger, and never sent back to the browser. Need a Flatkey key?
